Hi,

I just installed the rt2570 driver (build 2005-06-25) on a Fedora 3 (kernel 2.6.9-1.667 i686) using the Belkin F5D7050 wireless USB device. It seems to be working fine, but the install scripts needed a lot of help. I carried out the following:-

1. Downloaded and uncompressed the tar ball (http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/rt2570-cvs-daily.tar.gz)
2. cd into the Modules directory
3. ran "make"
4. ran "make install"
5. edited the "alias ra0 rt2500" line to be "alias rausb0 rt2570" because that's what the device wants
6. edited the /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/modules.dep by adding the reference to the rt2570 driver as the line (excluding quotation marks)
"/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/extra/rt2570.ko :"
(Why wasn't this automatically added?)
7. ran "modprobe rt2570"
8. iwconfig couldn't set the essid, but it found it anyway. I assume it took the value from the /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-rausb0 file.
9. removed the "hwaddr" line from the file mentioned in step 8 because on a reboot it kept complaining about an "unexpected MAC address"
10. ran "dhclient rausb0" which brought up the network
11. configured the network using the GUI "Applications > System Settings > Network" as per the howto:
http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/fc3howto/install_rt2400_FC3.htm
12. Seems to be working fine for me now. Better than Ndiswrapper in that its a native driver and doesn't require the 16Kb kernal stack.

So, what was the simple way to do it and will the install script be corrected?

Thanks!
